Gallery Wall of Goodness!

I love photographs. I love to take them. I love to look at them. I love the stories that they hold. I love those candid moments they capture....forever frozen in time.....preserved for future generations. I especially love OLD photographs.

I am so very lucky that my grandmother (my mom's mom) saved and passed on family photos going all the way back to the 1800's. Sadly, many of the photos are without names or dates or even the location. But I still love to look at them. Knowing that somehow, somewhere, I am connected to the people and places in those photos. I even have photos of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake that I believe my great-great uncle took. Priceless!

Those old photos are more precious than gold to me and I wanted to display them somewhere prominent in our home. And where more perfect than going up the stairs! Over time I have turned the wall going up our staircase into a canvas of frames (and quite a few nail holes!) of old family photos from both mine and my husband's side.

I have to tell you....this wall makes me so very happy :)

A Day of Inspiration

Tomorrow I'm getting together with some crafty girlfriends for a day of crafts and inspiration. I can't wait! Nothing beats a room full of friends who all share the same passion. I truly cherish my artsy, crafty friends!

In preparation for tomorrow, I picked up the latest Somerset Life.

I hope I don't gab the whole day away! I've been known to only get one thing finished on some of these crafty get togethers. And when my husband asks me what I made, and I show him my one thing, he asks me "that's all?"   Yep. That's all. But then I remind him that art is not a race.  Thank goodness! Because I'd almost always come in last.

I Have A Confession

I have O.C.D.

Obsessive.Compulsive.Decorating Syndrome.

And home décor blogs seem to aggravate it even more.

For example I saw this pantry make-over and just HAD to paint my utility closet a similar color!

And then just the other day I stumbled upon this aqualicious laundry room. 

And suddenly my red laundry room is screaming at me that it wants to be aqua.

And this yellow chair! Isn't it cheery?? I’m currently painting my bar stools cream, which is a pain in the butt by the way, but this yellow chair keeps popping up in the back of my mind. The cream may very well be a primer coat.

And lately I’ve been obsessed with white kitchens. But I don’t think Jim will let me paint our custom maple kitchen cabinets white.  Yet.

Spring must be in the air...

I don’t know what it is, but in the last few weeks

I have amassed a long list of projects I want to do around the house!

I’m blaming it on Spring.

But it is more than likely due to all the inspiring blogs I keep stumbling upon,

and which seem to add just one more project to my list!

Here are some of the projects on my To Do list:

1. Paint the interior of our Front Door black.

  

2. Paint the Bar Stools cream to match the kitchen table chairs. - but then I spied some yellow chairs that look super cheery. So who knows what color the bar stools will end up!

3. Silver Leaf my Jewelry Cabinet. – and if that project goes smoothly, silver leaf our bedside lamps.

4. Create Mr. & Mrs. Pillows for our bed.

5. Create “Humble Home..” Sign. – I will most likely be pulling my hair out on this project and regret not purchasing the sign instead!

6. Rainbow Button Monogram. - so up my alley!

7. Slipcover our Dining Room Chairs - this has actually been on my to do list for over a year now.

8. Paint Laundry Room aqua or a similar color to our Utility Closet which I just painted a few weekends ago.
